#InCaseYouMissedit
Hello,
First of all, I have to say “Thank you”. This would not have been possible if you did not subscribe.
I have always wanted to build an organize following of readers but I had been going about it the wrong way. Until I discovered Substack and I just knew it was the right fit for me.
This is the first month of my Newsletter and I have published four articles all of diverse topics but still rooted under Popular Culture. The response has been encouraging, I didn’t expect this much of a turnout but is really a testament to how much I had doubted myself. I believe Nigerians are interested in discussing about their arts, their music, their films and their hilarious memes. I see it everyday on social media. This is why this newsletter was created.
The month of May had me feeling giddy enough to write about Puff-Puff, I poured out my feelings about this popular pastry and it was hilarious to see how many people agreed with me. Which is safe to say, it is worth it to write that idea no matter how crazy you think it is. Here is a link in case you missed it!
I got emotional on Mother’s Day and I wrote an essay about my mother. It was the first newsletter that I posted and it is the highest viewed post till date. It might mean people connect with relatable stories and I am looking forward to writing such stories in the future. Here is a link in case you missed it!
Music is an integral part of my life and some artistes are imbedded in my journey in life. Asa is one of those artistes, not only is she an extraordinary songwriter she also has an amazing voice. I wrote all about the first time I heard her Music, and my obsession with her latest studio album LUCID. Here is a link in case you missed it!
Finally, I penned down my love-and-hate relationship with Nollywood. in this newsletter, I wrote about why old Nollywood movies still remain more relevant to Nigerian Popular Culture, my love-hate-relationship with the new Nollywood contents and a Q&A with a fan of Nigerian movies, Ibrahim. We discuss why the movie industry receive so much criticism and what they need to improve upon. Here’s a link in case you missed it!
I posted a thread where you can write out your opinions about these posts. Check your email, you should be able to comment directly. It’s more of a survey to keep me on track.
Help a girl out and share these links all over the Internet. Let’s increase this fan base together. I have so much I want to write about and I don’t know how much time I have before I leave the internet and go live in a secluded island with books and food to sustain me. lol
See you next month!!!
