Joeboy’s songs are too short and I think he’s doing this on purpose!
This isn’t a review, I just want to vent!
This week on #Music, I am venting about how short all of Joeboy’s tracks are.
Like, what is up with that?
I am at a crucial part of my life where my taste in music has expanded. I spend most of my days indoors and most of my activities accompanies a soundtrack in the background. It is for my sanity. I am not even a top-tier music enthusiast; I just listen to music that I like or that speaks to me. I do not have a specific genre that I love or hate; I just float through all genres you can think of and find myself engrossed in the melodies of diverse music. So, do not be surprised when you scroll through my playlists and find no defining pattern. Also, I should add that my playlist is forever changing because I am constantly throwing some music into the trash after listening to it nonstop for two weeks or recycling some old music just to satisfy my nostalgia or surfing through these music channels to find music I might fuck with. My music choices are unambiguous; they reek of plainness. I am contented.
I want to confess my love for this Afrobeat musician. I love this music. And I remain solely interested in nothing but Joeboy’s music. In an era where artistes’ online persona are disappointing their audience, I’d like to remain invested in Joeboy’s music alone because his songs makes me feel good. And right now, with everything going on, I just need a feel-good music.
I think it was one of these reasons why I discovered Joeboy – on music channels – he had released this hit song ‘’Baby’’ and everyone could not get enough of this track. I was one of those people. I was like ‘’who is this person with so much to sing about and yet music makes me feel good?’’ like, I was telling a friend how I just love listening to this cute guy sing out his feelings to an afrobeat. After listening to Baby I was immediately hooked and I added his songs to my playlist. So far, I know he is signed to Mr. Eazi’s music label Banku Music and Baby was actually his second single released under this label.
He definitely had that ‘’feel good’’ effect with his music; you listen to ‘’Baby’’ and you are drawn to it. This article is not to write a review of his work. Nope! This is to vent on how short all of Joeboy’s tracks are. Like, what is up with that? One minute you are listening to his cute voice singing about his love interest reciprocating his love in ‘’Baby’’ or whining about a lady who wants to dump her man to be with him in ‘’All for me’’.
You know, normal guy stuff.
And then, the music just ends abruptly. And it is becoming a pattern in all his music. It is like he is in a hurry to just dump all that ‘’feel good’’ vibes on us and then get the f*ck out ASAP! I thought it was just me who feels like this but I got people on Twitter to say they also feel the same way. The final verdict is that Joeboy is doing this shit deliberately just so we can keep coming back for more. It is like a constant dose of dope!
If Joeboy thinks I will keep streaming his short songs each time he releases them instead of boycotting his songs until he listens to the general public’s feedback to make them longer, then he is absolutely right!
